Dear reader,
Over the past few weeks we have reviewed how Trading Signals, our paid crypto trading service, is put together, and we are making some changes. As a reader of our free research, we wanted you to know what is changing and why.
The crypto bull market of 2023 to 2025 was built around Bitcoin. Only a handful of altcoins kept pace, and most lagged far behind. That is why we broadened Trading Signals to include selected stocks, to give subscribers more opportunities than a narrow crypto market offered. The US stock market has since gone the same way. Only about 30% of S&P 500 stocks are trading above their 50-day moving average, while the index sits close to its highs. A small group of AI hardware names, mainly memory, semiconductors and storage, has done most of the work this year. Most other sectors have lagged.
When leadership is this narrow, in crypto and in stocks, a broad systematic approach that scans many assets is no longer the right tool. It produces more signals than the market can reward. What works is being selective: finding the few assets that are actually leading, understanding why, and knowing when that is about to change. That takes research and judgement for each idea, not more ideas.
We have also listened to our subscribers. Over the summer, several of our institutional clients told us that what they value most from 10x is our own view of the market: a clear opinion, well argued, that they can weigh against their own. A steady flow of model-generated signals does not add to that. If anything, it dilutes it. Other subscribers asked for something similar in different words: shorter and clearer recommendations, what to buy or sell, at what level, how much and for how long. They also wanted follow-ups on trades that don’t go as planned, and more focus on crypto. We agree with all of this.
From this month, Trading Signals changes in four ways:
Fewer, deeper ideas. Instead of a steady flow of model-generated signals, we will publish a small number of high-conviction trade ideas that reflect our own view. Each will be built on a clear thesis, positioning and flow data, and a catalyst.
A clear trade box at the top of every idea. Entry level, target, stop, suggested position size and expected holding period, so subscribers can act on it with simple limit orders. The full analysis follows for those who want it.
Back to crypto, with a sharper focus on altcoins. In a market where only a few tokens lead, picking the right ones is where research pays off most, and it is where we believe 10x has its deepest edge. Our thematic stock and cross-asset work will continue in What Matters.
A systematic view, used where it works. Trends, and bullish trends in particular, remain one of the most useful inputs for deciding when to hold or add risk, so it matters to know when a trend changes. The subscriber dashboard gives a daily read on trend and momentum and flags when a trend turns. It will also show which coins a systematic approach has actually worked on, which strategy worked, and where simply holding the coin has done better.
This is what a Trading Signals subscription includes:
High-conviction trade ideas. Our main product. Two to five pages per idea, each with a trade box and a follow-up if it doesn’t work out. We publish when the opportunity is there, not on a fixed schedule.
Crypto Trends & Catalysts (every Thursday). Our weekly review of more than 50 altcoins: what is moving, why, and what is coming up.
Sector and market structure report (weekly, new). A quantitative look at which crypto sectors are leading and how the market is positioned. Its main job is to show when it makes sense to shift attention from Bitcoin to altcoins, and where to look when that happens.
Dashboard access. A daily read on trend and momentum across the coins we cover, with flags when a trend turns.
The Volatility Edge (every Monday). Our weekly options report, for those who trade options.
If you have been thinking about upgrading, this is a good time to do it. The first ideas in the new format go out this month.
Thank you for reading, and as always, simply reply to this email if you have questions.
Best regards,
Markus Thielen
